The annual Sustainable Development Festival is a big event in Italy dedicated to the 2030 Agenda, with the aim to raise awareness among increasingly large sectors of the public on the issues of economic, social and environmental sustainability, in order to promote a cultural evolution in individual and collective behaviours, and to encourage bottom-up proposals that exhort the country’s leaders to respect the commitments taken in 2015 in the United Nations.

The UNDP Programme has been a pioneer in developing broader measures of poverty such as the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) that seeks to widen the poverty debate.
