First Latin American Meeting of Community Tourism

On March 23 and 24, 2017, in the municipality of Gachantiva, the 1st Latin American Meeting of Rural Community Tourism will be held, with the participation of 13 organizations from the territory, representatives of the network of rural tourism service providers  "La Trenza del Valle de Tenza", established in 2012.

This important meeting will bring together different local communities (urban, Afro and indigenous) from various regions of Colombia (Vaupés, Vichada, Orinoquía and Amazonas, among others) and from other Latin American countries (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras , Costa Rica, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, United States, United Kingdom and Germany). The meeting aims to "be a space for discussion and reflection on tourism that will address fundamental issues such as local development, social innovation, entrepreneurship, protection of ecosystems and collaborative networks; In turn this meeting seeks to design the Latin American Network and the Colombian Community Tourism Network. "

This meeting is an opportunity to make visible the work that has been made for several years by local rural entrepreneurs and supported by institutions such as: The European Union, The Network of Local Economic Development Agencies Of Colombia, the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia: Muisuata Research Group, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Chivor Corpochivor, the Government of Boyacá, the National Learning Service SENA, municipalities and the Local Action Group GAL Valletenzano, among others that have chosen to position the Valley of Tenza as a destination for rural tourism from a community perspective.
